Julie

Julie is a short style that comes with a cap. The cap uses the chin attachment point, so this style can be worn with or without the cap. This style will come with 10 different colored caps.
Julie also comes with a Linden Hair Mesh Base for all available colors.
The Hair is 82 prims and the cap is 1 prim.
This will be priced at 235L for regular packs and 800L for Mega Packs.
The hair and the cap will both come with resize scripts.

Marianne

Well I had some days off from the real world work schedule and was able to come up with another style. I worked on making better and finer hair hair textures and to me that seemed to help make this style better than some others I have made in the past.

This style is around 123 prims. I will price it at 235L.

Recently I've noticed that some other stores sell hair for much higher than this. For 235L you get at least 6 colors. I've seen some stores charge as much as 350L for a similar amount and even as much as 200L for one color. Ouch!! Are you kidding me!

Fat packs or mega packs are even worse, 2000L for a fat pack? My fat pack or Mega pack contains all 50 colors priced at 800L. I know some stores put in more colors, but some colors can be created simply by just tinting the hair or even tinting the hair darker in many cases.

Maybe my hair isn't as good as theirs, but I do put in 15 to 25 hours (my estimate) per hair style. I spent over 1000L for uploads just for this style. It's quite often I create new textures for each hair style. The effort is there. 5 to 10 hair styles a month is just not my style.

I hope the product I create is half way comparable to some other stores as many of the styles are priced only 2/3 of their price.

Thanks for looking.

Claire

This style can be worn two different ways, with or without bangs.

Also the scrunchie is scripted with 36 colors/textures. It can be tricky at times to trigger this script with the left click of the mouse. The re-size menu may come up for the hair. If so, just close and try again.

Once again, current and future releases do have the resize script for making hair sizing much easier than regular SL tools.

This hair is built with Linden system hair. It can be tricky to size if adjustments are necessary. If so, go to this post "http://joliefemmedesigns.blogspot.com/2009/07/linden-hair-mesh-sizing-instructions.html"

Wearing this with just a ponytail is only 15 prims and up to 62 prims all together.

I will be pricing this at 235L and the mega pack will be 800L. Don't forget that much of the hair at Jolie Femme for the month of November is still priced at 100L.

Thanks for looking.

A few more photos

I know, but I spent so much time working on it. I need to show off a little. ;-)

FYI for anyone reading, the TP system goes from ground level to level 2. To get to the top use the TP from the middle of the second floor.

The top is a bit small, so you will need to zoom close enough to see your avatar on the top floor. From there find the stairs up to the balcony to see a great view. Too bad draw distance causes so much lag.

Also the Tower is not 100% complete by a long shot. I will be returning the hair production and the tower will now be a side project after two long months of work. There are textures that need to be done, a balcony roof on the first floor that needs to be done. Also some more pieces need to be added to the outside of the tower. I doubt I will ever finish it, but it is to the point that it looks pretty good I think.

November 100L sale: Eiffel Tower opening

Since everyone will need to put up with the remodeling, I have put about half of the hair styles at Jolie Femme at 100L. Perhaps more later in the month. It took 3 days this week to remodel the store and put up the Eiffel Tower. Enjoy. I'm going to be putting up some pictures. Next week its back to making hair.

The Eiffel Tower

It's been over a month and a half and no new hair. I think I can finally show why. It's far from complete. I also need to move it to ground level.
I plan on moving it to ground level in the next few days. I don't know how long it will take as I need to rearrange the store to go underneath the tower. The footprint of the tower takes up a full 1/4 sim. The tower is also 300 meters tall, so it is very big. More later. If anyone wants to take a peak, its 2000 meters above Jolie Femme.

Stephanie II

This is a longer version of the first Stephanie hair style. I did need to add a few more prims, so its up to 126.

I strongly suggest to make a copy of hair before sizing it with the resize script. Once that is done, please delete the scripts to be polite to others on the grid as 126 of these scripts will add a lot of lag.

I will once again put this up this week for 100L, but through Saturday only.

Stephanie

By request, I made this style based on Lestat 2. Someone suggested a style just like that but with more bangs covering the face. I hope I did a good job, I always seem to have issues with bangs.
I also added Linden Hair to this for the hair line on the forehead. It isn't much or really necessary to wear, but may add a small touch of realism.
I will price this at 235L.
What to make next??

Kara

Kara is now available and priced at 240L. Normally I price hair at 225 to 235L, but I'm going to throw in the hair clip also. There are more colors of this hair clip available on the wall labeled Hair Accessories.
This style also uses Linden Hair for the hair line. Instructions on how to adjust this, if needed, are two posts down.
Kara is 117 prims. The hair in the style looks really good and realistic throughout. I made an effort to make the hair so it was like you could touch it. So I spent a long time on it. I no longer make hair that can be done in one weekend like I used too. That is not the way I'm going to do it anymore. This is much better.
This style comes in 50 colors and used the same Touch to fit sizing script. Just remember to make a copy before you size the hair and delete the scripts from the hair. Deleting the scripts is also polite to do unless you own your own region.

Thanks for looking and waiting for more hair!!

Sasha

Sasha is 55 prims, available in 50 colors. Regular packs will be 230L and the mega pack will be priced at 800L.

The base of the hair uses Linden Hair with a realistic looking hair texture to match the pony tail and curls. The curls are made from flexy cylinder prims wrapped around with realistic curled textures.

As always, all new releases come with the sizing script. The mesh hair may need some adjustments, so I posted an instruction previous to this post.

The scrunchy comes with a texture script (36 total).

Enjoy and thanks for looking.

Camping chairs and the lack of help from LL

For over 6 months now I've been AR'ing this club across the SIM from me for camping chairs. There is around 10 money chairs, 6 plus prize chairs and avatars that just sit there for days on end in the same spot. The usual number of "green" dots on their club usually runs around 20 to 25. Which is "okay".

Then during the day when their events hit, the SIM will fill up with another 10 or more avatars and reaches a pivotal point of maxing out the SIM (max is 40). This doesn't count the 3 model bots I try to put up and potential customers and myself.

So I finally get a message from Lotte Linden after another AR I sent out. Here it is: [4:11] Lotte Linden: Thank you for contacting us about camping bots. At this point in time, it is not required that you report them, and in any case please limit your reports to one per topic and person. Sending in multiple repetitive reports will be considered abuse of support resources. Regards, Lotte

So basically it told me I'm SOL.

Even though as explained here: SL Blog, camping, botcamping and prize camping or anything to enhance traffic is banned. WTF Lotte! Rules generally apply across the board.

So I put up 13 of my own chairs in disgust and what does this club do? They get angry with me!!! The also don't know how to count. They tell me I have 15 chairs and they only have 10.

I'm disgusted!! I'm truely sorry no one can get into the sim at this point. I currently have two more shops up at Hairspray and Solace beach and tons of hair on Xstreet. LL has truely disappointed me to the greatest degree possible.

New Hair Accessories

The hair clips and head bands are both 50L and up in the hair accessories wall at the main store.
Both items are modifiable and tintable, except for the crystals.
Knowing how to edit link prims is probably a good idea for changing the colors of the butterflies or in the headband.
I will offer to add these to Jolie Femme Hair styles for a small fee to compensate for the time involved in adding them.
Thanks for looking. I think I will start making some hair again in the upcoming week. The Hair Fair styles will be coming to the main store sometime next week after the fair wraps up.

Hair Fair 2009

Hair Fair 2009 - These styles will be available June 20 through July 4th at the Hair Fair. More info available here: Hair Fair 2009 blog.

Demos are available at Xstreet at this location: Jolie Femme@Xstreet. No need to wait for Hair Fair to start, these demos are available for purchase at the time of this writing. Just make sure to sort styles "new to old" to find the Hair Fair 2009 styles.

On to the Hair styles (All hair styles are made of sculpts, flexy hair, and available in 50 colors each. All the styles are come with sizing scripts and with modify permissions)

Penelope:

This style is 94 prims. The scrunchy is scripted with 36 colors/textures including 2 plaid sets. It will be tricky to trigger the script. I usually sit on a posing stand and touch the left scrunchie to get it to work. It may trigger the sizing script for the hair, so just close that and try again.

The hair is made out of flexy cylinder prims. The texture is twisted around to created realistic curls.

Linda:

This style is 99 prims. A simple straight and very long hair style. The hair should reach about waiste length.

Elizabeth:

**50 percent of sales at Hair Fair will go to the Locks of Love charity**

This style is 89 prims. Medium length hair that reaches the shoulders.

Brigitte:

This hair is 123 prims. A short style that comes just below the chin and covers the eyes and forehead.

Bella III:

This hair is 127 prims. This style uses a similar techique to Penelope for the curls. The curls in the will be about waiste lenght like the Linda style. Bella I and Bella II are also available as shorter versions of Bella III. Those two styles available at the main store.

Some suggestions:

I think it would be best to buy the demos first and try them out on a different sim. The Hair Fair is always extremely laggy and many times the sculpts on the demos may not rez. Buying the demos beforehand and even buying them on Xstreet first, is probably the best option for purchasing hair at the Hair Fair.

Also please be polite to the other shoppers at the Hair Fair. Reducing the number of attachments and scripts being worn by your avatar with be appreciated.

Thanks for looking and enjoy!

Hair Fair 2009

With the hair fair coming up, I will need to make some new hair styles for this event coming up in late June, early July. I don't think I'll be able to put out any new releases until then. I will be putting up my best effort just for this event, in the next two months on these 5 styles. I will be also putting up a freebie hair accessory at this event. I'm not sure what, yet. Hopefully this years event will be better managed. I wasn't that happy last year with the rather large prim limits. I thought some of it was rather unnecessary considering much of it never rezzed. Hopefully this year's event will a little less laggier.

Hair Fair 09 - Welcome!

Eric

This hair built with normal prims would be about 456 prims. That is not the case with this hair as it is built with oblong sculpts which I use to create hair 1/8th of that primitive amount by pinching or dividing each prim sculpt into 8 pieces. So that actual total is 57 prims.

After the intial load of the sculpts, the hair will be much more efficient than any 100+ prim hair that I often times end up at.

I will put this hair up with a new release price of 100L for this first week (Until Sunday, April 12). I like to do this so people looking for new releases can get them cheap. Once that is over with, the normal price will be 235L for regular packs and 800L for the mega pack.

Once again, all new releases come with the hair sizer script. This makes things so much easier to resize. I do suggest to choose the delete option when running this script once the hair his sized up well to be lag friendly to other people. Before doing this, make back ups of the hair with the script.

It's been over a month, I know. I spent about 2 weeks learning how to do this. Then issues with outside of SL with real life came about. So hopefully now that is over with I can continue to make more hair. My next plan is for some braids to be done as I find this process I learned how to do could be very useful in making those.

Thanks for looking.

Lestat 2

Based on the movie Interview with the Vampire. Released Lestat last week as a pony tail and this is my try at the same hair not tied up.
107 prims and the resize script as usual. I like this style more on the female model, but my intention was for it to be a Lestat style too. Clothing can be found here: GOTHIC VAMPIRE Clothing MEDIEVAL, Bonita (25, 37, 72)
I really like the dress. The hair really goes well with the dress.

Interview with the Vampire "Lestat"

It's been three weekends. It may not look like it to some, but I spent at least 25 hours on this style. So I really put some extra effort into it. That is one of the reasons why its been three weekends since the last style.
This style is based on the movie "Interview with the Vampire". So that is why I'm naming it "Lestat". I managed to build this with 40 prims total. The scrunchie includes the color script.
The demo includes the sizing and scrunchie script. I suggest sizing the demo first to make sure this hair will fit. Some head shapes may not fit as desired.
Depending on how I feel, I may make a Lestat II without the hair tied up.

Behind on hair

Trying to work on "Interview" but I'm having trouble. I don't know if I'll get done this weekend, but I will for sure next week or weekend. I've become too much of a perfectionist I guess. My next wigs I'm going to try to simplify a bit and have some more fun again.

Interview with the Vampire

I decided to go with the guy hair in Interview With the Vampire. I'll actually potentially call it Interview too. This pony tail with end up not as tight/close to the scalp as Ashlee and the tail with be a bit more curly. I'll probably take at least two weeks for this, I'm not rushing hairstyles like I did a couple of years ago.

Ashlee realistic hair lined ponytail with shape shown

My first and main concern with this hair was how many avatars will it fit. I sent out some prototypes to the Jolie Femme update group and had some positive replies.
I am still concerned. This hair will not fit everyone even with the resize script and my best effort. For that reason, please try the demo first. The demo contains the resize script and can most definitely be made to fit beforehand. I would even keep track of the numbers before making the main purchase to make things easier.
I also included the shape shown in the photograph, called Ashlee also. I actually made this shape months ago for my own use, but her it is for free out of the box to fit with the Ashlee hair. It is a short heighted avatar compared to other 7 foot ones out there.
The scrunchie in back is also scripted with colors and textures including plaid colors. I love the plaid!!
I spent several weekends on this project and hope it turns out the best way possible for the most customers possible. Thanks for the prototype tester's too. I almost gave up on this and I hope there isn't any issues with too many customers buying hair that doesn't fit.

Please please please, demo first!!!!

Over 3000 textures???

Over the past three years making hair, I've ended up with over 3000 files on my PC just for hair. I know I had a lot, but didn't think it was that many.

Why so many? I use a lot of different textures on different styles. Often times each style has a new or a couple of new textures and take that times 50 colors per style. Often times I end up uploading 100 textures for new hairstyles which amounts to 1000 Lindens in upload charges. That doesn't count the sculpt maps which is what I mainly use for static pieces of hair.

Now I have a headache just thinking about it.

Creative Block

I tried all weekend to come up with something fun to make and couldn't do it. So it may be a bit for another hair style to come out. I just can't make anything without really putting my heart into it. It might be the time of year too. It just too depressing outside, too cold, and stuck in the house for months due to the cold. Yuck! Ideas are welcome as always as always.

Amy III with flexy curls

A customer requested a style similar to Amy I and II but with the curls found on Bella 1 and 2 styles. So here it is.
I thought this would be quicker to make, but it still took me a couple of days.
The claws are included once again as they are in Amy I and II.
I'm glad I made this, it turned out well. I still ended up at about 113 prims.
I don't normally do requests, I get too many or they take too long and the person who requested it just happens to never buy it or finds something else. I think that's just completely normal since the person requesting it doesn't really want to wait for long and usually with SL being as big as it is, there will always be something that a customer is requesting somewhere. I did this anyways as I really wanted to do it.
I'm glad I started using these curls again, they just look better in some lighting that the other flat prim look just can't do. Finer hair will still need the flat prims.
Thanks for looking.
